Nepal Education Minister launches nationwide reform dialogue

Nepal’s Minister for Education and Sports, Sasmit Pokharel, has launched a nationwide initiative to reform the country’s education sector through direct dialogue and field observations. The ministry is implementing an ‘Education Dialogue’ programme, sending teams to all seven provinces to collect suggestions and concerns from local authorities, teachers, parents, and students.

Minister Pokharel is also conducting on-site visits to community schools to assess educational, physical, and managerial conditions. These observations aim to identify the real needs of students, including improvements to infrastructure, learning materials, and extracurricular activities. The feedback gathered from these dialogues and visits will serve as the foundation for upcoming reforms, including the new Education Act and the Technical Education Act.
