Nepal expresses gratitude to China for disaster relief assistance

Nepal's Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal expressed gratitude to China for its selfless assistance during recent crises, including rescue efforts following severe landslides. During a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Chang Maoming in Kathmandu, Khanal noted that both nations share Himalayan ecosystems and face similar challenges from climate change.

Regarding climate finance, Khanal stated that Nepal does not intend to demand specific climate payments from countries like China. Instead, Nepal aims to seek international funding through the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement. Ambassador Chang reaffirmed China's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Nepal and the international community to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change.
