Nepal flood relief: ADB approves $5 million emergency grant

Catastrophic flash flooding and debris flows, likely triggered by a glacial collapse in Langtang National Park, have devastated communities along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems in Nepal. The disaster has caused widespread loss of life, injuries, and displacement, with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies estimating that approximately 93,000 people may be affected.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $5 million emergency grant to provide essential supplies, including food, safe drinking water, medicine, and temporary shelter. The bank is also processing up to $150,000 for post-disaster needs assessments and recovery planning.

In response, the Adara Group is conducting risk assessments and preparing emergency measures to support its programs in the affected Nuwakot District. The Nepal government has declared the impacted areas as disaster crisis-affected zones as search-and-rescue operations continue.
