Nepal floods and landslides cause destruction in Trishuli Bazar
Severe flooding and landslides have caused widespread destruction in Nepal, particularly impacting Trishuli Bazar in the Nuwakot district. The sudden deluge transformed the once-prosperous commercial hub into a field of debris, destroying numerous businesses and homes. One local merchant reported losing five shops, estimating financial losses exceeding 40 million rupees. Eyewitnesses described a terrifying scene where individuals were swept away by the water and buried in mud.
The disaster has also had significant cross-border human consequences. In the Rasuwa district, several laborers from the West Champaran district of Bihar, India, are reported missing after being caught in the flash flood while working at a hotel. While four workers managed to return home safely, three individuals—identified as Samir Ansari, Mokhtar Mian, and Arman Alam—remain unaccounted for after being separated from their group during the chaos.
