Nepal floods leave hundreds dead and Portuguese citizens missing
Devastating floods and landslides in Nepal have caused at least 362 deaths and left thousands missing. The disaster, which included a magnitude 5.2 landslide near Kodari, has severely impacted the Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts, destroying infrastructure such as bridges, roads, and hydroelectric services.
Three Portuguese citizens remain missing following the event, including two siblings. However, one Portuguese resident living in France was located safely. The Government of Nepal has declared the affected regions a disaster zone for three months, mobilizing military and private helicopters for search and rescue operations.
The Portuguese Red Cross has launched a donation campaign to provide emergency shelter, clean water, and essential goods to the victims. The humanitarian response is being supported by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
