Nepal Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal Undertakes Three‑Day Official Visit to India

Nepal’s foreign minister, Shishir Khanal, arrived in New Delhi on 5 June for a three‑day official visit that runs until 7 June. Invited by Indian foreign minister S. Jaishankar, Khanal will hold bilateral talks on trade, investment, connectivity, energy and people‑to‑people links. The agenda includes expanding railway, road and air connections, the Raxaul‑Kathmandu railway feasibility study and other pending projects such as the Pancheshwar scheme and a Janakpur‑Ayodhya rail link.

The ministry said Khanal and Jaishankar will discuss “trade, investment, connectivity, energy and people‑to‑people relations” and that the visit follows Nepali party leader Rabi Lamichhane’s recent trip to Delhi. A senior ministry official noted a bilateral meeting on 6 June will focus on improving rail, road, air and passenger‑movement links. Khanal is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on 7 June.
