Nepal gas dealers deny LPG shortage, cite rising imports

The Nepal LP Gas Industry Association (NLPGA) has urged consumers to avoid unnecessary stockpiling of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, stating that a shortage is unlikely. Association President Diwan Bahadur Chand noted that if consumers refrain from buying extra cylinders, current supply pressures will be resolved immediately.

According to the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), LPG imports from Indian refineries have increased by approximately 15 percent. The corporation reported importing 39,774 metric tonnes of LPG over the last 22 days. At the current rate, imports for the Nepali month of Shrawan are expected to reach around 55,000 metric tonnes, up from 44,318 metric tonnes during the same period last fiscal year.
