Nepal lawmakers demand solutions to LPG shortages
Lawmakers in Nepal’s National Assembly have called on the government to resolve a persistent shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). During a recent session, members of parliament urged for greater transparency and improved management regarding the import, sale, and distribution of cooking gas.
Legislators questioned why consumers continue to face difficulties obtaining gas despite government claims that imports from India exceed domestic demand. Lawmakers from the Nepali Congress and the National People’s Front emphasized that the shortage has caused significant public hardship and demanded an organized, transparent system to prevent what some described as an artificial shortage.
