Nepal monsoon brings heavy rain to several provinces
Active monsoon winds are causing widespread weather disruptions across Nepal. The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) reports that excessive rainfall has already been recorded in western regions, including Baitadi, Kanchanpur, Kailali, and Bardiya, as well as in Syangja and Nawalpur.
Forecasts indicate that moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected in the mountainous and hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, along with parts of Koshi and Bagmati. The Terai regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim are also at risk for moderate rain, with specific areas in the Lumbini Terai potentially experiencing heavy rainfall.
In the mountainous and hilly regions, some areas may encounter rain and snowfall tonight. The monsoon trough is currently positioned near its average in the east and north of its average in the west, remaining close to the country.
