Nepal officials prepare for upcoming diplomatic visits to India

High-level diplomatic activity is increasing between Nepal and India. Prime Minister Balendra Shah is preparing for a visit to India, tentatively scheduled for late November or early December 2026. Discussions between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both nations are underway to set the agenda, with post-flood reconstruction following the Bhotekoshi disaster expected to be a top priority.

Separately, Nepal’s Home Minister Sudan Gurung is scheduled to travel to New Delhi on October 12. He will participate in the first meeting of the BIMSTEC Home Ministers on October 13. The meeting aims to address regional security issues, including cross-border crime, drug trafficking, and human trafficking. Gurung is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with counterparts, including Indian Home Minister Amit Shah.
