Nepal-Tibet border flash floods kill at least 90 people

Flash floods occurring at the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26, 2026, have resulted in at least 90 deaths across both sides of the border. Hundreds of people remain missing following the disaster.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively monitoring the situation through the Indonesian Embassies in Beijing and Dhaka. Heni Hamidah, Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection, stated that there have been no reports of Indonesian citizens being victims or affected by the floods so far.

Approximately 45 Indonesian citizens are currently in Nepal, with most residing in Kathmandu and working in the hospitality sector. The Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka is paying special attention to Indonesian tourists, particularly those engaged in mountaineering activities, and is coordinating with local community networks to ensure their safety.
