Nepal's NDRRMA Issues Monsoon Safety Advisories as Rain Forecast Increases

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has called on citizens to follow monsoon safety advisories, emphasizing the need to stay alert to the special bulletins issued by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM). NDRRMA officials said they have coordinated with disaster contacts, road and irrigation directors, and other stakeholders to minimise loss of life and property during the active monsoon season.

The DHM reports light to moderate rain across several provinces—including Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Sudurpashchim and Madhesh—along with thunderstorms and occasional snowfall in the Himalayan region. Heavier rainfall is possible in hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali and parts of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim. The agency urges the public to monitor updates and heed advisories to reduce potential damage.
