Neptun Werft delivers Viking Rota river cruise ship to Viking River Cruises

Neptun Werft, a subsidiary of the Meyer Werft Group, has officially delivered the river cruise ship Viking Rota to Viking River Cruises AG. Following a technical handover in Lelystad, Netherlands, on October 6, 2026, the formal handover took place in Basel, Switzerland, on October 8, 2026.

The Viking Rota is an innovative Longship-type vessel measuring 135 meters in length and 12 meters in width. It features a diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system and is designed to accommodate up to 190 guests across 95 cabins and suites. The ship is scheduled to operate on the Rhine, Main, and Danube rivers.

This delivery continues a long-standing partnership between the Rostock-based shipyard and the Basel-based cruise line. Viking River Cruises has announced ambitious expansion plans, aiming to grow its river fleet to 114 ships by 2028, with additional orders for ocean and expedition vessels planned through 2032.
