Israel election results show political deadlock as no bloc reaches majority

Preliminary results from the Israeli Knesset elections indicate a political stalemate, with no major bloc securing the 61 seats required for an absolute majority. The Netanyahu-led bloc is projected to hold 53 seats, while the opposition bloc led by Gadi Eisenkot is projected to receive between 47 and 53 seats.

Arab political parties have emerged as a significant force, collectively securing approximately 19 seats. This outcome has led to discussions regarding the potential for a national unity government, with President Isaac Herzog expected to begin consultations to resolve the impasse. Some opposition members have indicated a willingness to cooperate with Arab parties to form a government that could replace the current administration.

Election officials are currently processing between 650,000 and 700,000 double envelopes, which include votes from soldiers, diplomats, and prisoners. While these votes may provide a slight boost to right-wing parties, they are not expected to be sufficient to break the deadlock. The Israeli Election Committee has denied any allegations of fraud during the counting process.
