Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing internal fractures within the right-wing bloc as election preparations intensify. Netanyahu has called for unity among far-right leaders, specifically urging Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich to run on a single joint list to prevent the fragmentation of right-wing votes.
However, tensions are high. The Likud party has criticized Ben Gvir’s decision not to unite, suggesting his refusal could inadvertently empower a left-wing government. Ben Gvir has rejected the calls for unity, arguing that a merger with Smotrich would result in a loss of seats for his party and accusing Netanyahu of attempting to weaken his political standing.
