Netanyahu Says Israel Takes Erdogan's Threats Seriously and Will Alert the United States

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his cabinet that Israel is treating Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s recent statements, in which he called for the destruction of Israel, with utmost seriousness. Netanyahu said the remarks would be communicated to the United States for further consideration.

Netanyahu quoted a historical lesson, stating, “If someone says he intends to destroy you, you must take him seriously.” He added that Israel will draw the attention of its American allies to the escalating Turkish rhetoric, which has included calls to “liberate” Jerusalem and prayers for Israel’s destruction.

U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking about a forthcoming arms‑sale agreement with Turkey, acknowledged the concerns raised in Jerusalem, noting that the proposed deal could include fighter‑jet engines and other weapons systems.
