Netanyahu to meet Trump at White House as Lebanon talks intensify

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to hold a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday. The encounter follows a recent phone call between the two leaders in which they agreed to a "near‑term" meeting, and it will precede Trump’s scheduled talks with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Tuesday.

The meeting comes amid intensified diplomatic activity surrounding the Lebanon‑Israel framework agreement signed on 26 June 2026 and the final round of Rome negotiations brokered by the United States. Netanyahu is also slated to attend a memorial service for the late U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham during his visit.

The talks occur against the backdrop of ongoing Israeli military operations in Lebanon that began on 2 March 2026, which the Lebanese Health Ministry says have caused over 4,300 deaths, more than 12,200 injuries and displaced more than one million people.
