Benjamin Netanyahu stresses Israeli air superiority as Turkey's Fidan calls his policies a regional threat
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told an audience that maintaining air superiority in the Middle East is a cornerstone of Israel's national security doctrine and that the country is prepared for any scenario. He highlighted ongoing tensions with Lebanon and Iran and reiterated the need for “security zones” along Israel's borders.
Netanyahu also held a telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, during which Trump briefed him on recent U.S. air operations against Iran and discussed Israel's military presence in southern Lebanon. Both leaders said they will continue close coordination on regional security matters.
Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, speaking after the NATO summit, condemned Netanyahu’s policies, describing them as a “burden and threat” to regional and international security. Fidan said Israel is seeking a new enemy ahead of upcoming elections and criticized Israeli actions in Syria, accusing the government of destabilising the country.
