Netflix adds 4K support for Chrome on Windows 11
Google Chrome version 117 and later can now stream Netflix in Ultra HD (2160p) on compatible Windows 11 PCs. The change removes a previous limitation that favored Microsoft Edge, but playback still requires an active Netflix plan that includes Ultra HD, a stable internet connection of at least 15 Mbps, and hardware that meets Netflix’s specifications – such as a compatible GPU (e.g., Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 or newer), a display that supports 4K at 60 Hz with HDCP 2.2, and Windows 11 fully updated. All connected monitors must satisfy these requirements, otherwise Netflix will downgrade the resolution. The update does not affect Chrome on macOS, which remains capped at 1080p, while Safari continues to provide 4K on supported Macs.
