Netflix celebrates 10 years in South Korea at Busan Film Festival

Netflix celebrated its 10th anniversary in South Korea through various events at the 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). The streaming giant hosted a series of activities, including a parade, themed booths, and a “Netflix Sarangbang” space to engage with audiences and celebrate its decade of K-content production.

As part of its anniversary and partnership with BIFF, Netflix held the 3rd “Creative Asia” program, its largest to date. The event brought together over 400 emerging filmmakers for masterclasses and workshops covering topics from storytelling to AI-driven production and global distribution. The program was organized in collaboration with the Asian Film Academy Network and the Motion Picture Association.

Netflix reported that Asia-Pacific content now accounts for over 50% of its global non-English Top 10 list, up from approximately 30% five years ago. During the festival, industry leaders and directors shared insights on the importance of investing in local talent and technical expertise, including VFX and editing, to sustain the growth of the global content ecosystem.
