Netflix considers linear TV channels while scheduling August content removals

Netflix is reportedly discussing the launch of continuous linear TV channels that would stream selected series, movies or genre‑specific line‑ups without requiring users to choose individual titles. The idea is aimed at reducing "choice paralysis" and resembles the channel models of Pluto TV, Tubi or Roku Channel, though Netflix would keep its subscription model and has not confirmed pricing or availability. A company spokesperson declined to comment on the plans.

In parallel, Netflix has announced a large slate of titles that will leave its catalogue in August 2026. The removals include films such as Pretty Woman, American Gangster, the three Sam Raimi Spider‑Man movies, Venom: The Last Dance, and the fantasy film Labyrinth, as well as series like Home Improvement, Fear the Walking Dead (seasons), and several anime and documentary series. The schedule spreads across the month, with different titles exiting on specific dates.
