Netflix content library overhaul to remove several acclaimed films

Netflix is undergoing a content library overhaul that will result in the departure of several notable films.

Yorgos Lanthimos’ Oscar-winning film ‘Poor Things’, starring Emma Stone, Margaret Qualley, and Mark Ruffalo, is scheduled to leave the platform on September 7, 2026. The film, which earned Stone the Academy Award for Best Actress, follows the journey of Bella Baxter as she explores themes of equality and liberation.

Additionally, the biographical sports drama ‘The Hurricane’, directed by Norman Jewison and starring Denzel Washington, will depart the service on September 1, 2026. The film depicts the life of boxer Rubin Carter, who was wrongly convicted of murder. Washington received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Carter in the 1999 production.
