Netflix miniseries ‘El problema final’ reaches number one in Spain

The Spanish Netflix miniseries ‘El problema final’, based on the novel by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, has reached the number one spot for most-watched series in Spain within five days of its release. Directed by Félix Viscarret, the four-episode mystery is set in 1959 on an isolated island during a storm.

The plot follows a detective named Basil, played by José Coronado, who investigates the death of a British tourist in a hotel that can only be reached by sea. Alongside Adela Figueroa, played by María Valverde, Basil must navigate conflicting testimonies and hidden identities among the thirteen guests trapped by the weather.

In recent interviews, José Coronado has drawn parallels between his character’s classic, formal manners and the values he was taught in his own upbringing. He noted that the skills required for both acting and detective work involve a deep observation of human behavior and small details.
