Netflix increases subscription prices in Brazil

Netflix has announced a price increase for all three of its subscription tiers in Brazil, with adjustments ranging from approximately 15.6% to 23.9%. The Standard with ads plan, the most affordable option, rose from R$ 20.90 to R$ 25.90. The Standard plan increased from R$ 44.90 to R$ 51.90, while the Premium plan, which offers 4K resolution and four simultaneous screens, rose from R$ 59.90 to R$ 71.90.

The company stated that these updates are intended to allow for continued investment in high-quality entertainment and to improve the subscriber experience. This follows a previous price adjustment in Brazil in May 2024. The price hike coincides with reports of a global workforce reduction of approximately 6%, affecting about 1,000 employees.

Separately, Netflix has announced a strategic shift in its licensing operations in Brazil. Starting in 2027, the company will directly manage its licensed product operations in the country, moving away from a commercial representation model to establish closer relationships with local partners and retailers.
