Minerva Academy teen drama premieres on Netflix

Netflix has released the first season of ‘Minerva Academy’, an eight-episode Italian teen drama set in a strict military high school near Naples. Directed by Ivan Silvestrini and produced by Picomedia, the series follows Salvo Fusco, a cadet from a group home who enrolls in the academy to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of his close friend, Francesco.

The season finale reveals that Francesco did not die but chose to leave the school to escape its toxic environment and violence. The mystery also uncovers a hidden relationship between Francesco and another student, Diego, which was suppressed by the school’s rigid code of silence.

While the first season provides resolution to the central mystery, the future of the series remains unconfirmed. Netflix has not officially renewed the show for a second season, as the streaming service typically waits several weeks to evaluate viewership metrics, including Top 10 rankings and completion rates. However, the series is marketed as ‘Season 1’ rather than a limited series, fueling speculation among fans regarding a potential follow-up.
