Netflix is producing a multi‑part series adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez’s novel *One Hundred Years of Solitude*. The production is being filmed entirely in Colombia, with set designers building the fictional town of Macondo from scratch and thousands of local extras and artisans participating. The author’s family, including his sons Rodrigo García and Gonzalo García Barcha, serve as executive producers, ensuring fidelity to the source material.

A trailer for the second part, set to debut on August 5, shows the arrival of progress in Macondo that quickly turns to violence, labor unrest and flood, hinting at a darker narrative arc. The final episode is scheduled for August 26. The series aims to bring the magical‑realist world of the Buendía family to a global audience while highlighting Colombian cultural and economic contributions.
