Netflix schedules August release for second part of 'Cien años de soledad' series

Netflix announced that the second part of its adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez’s novel *Cien años de soledad* will debut on 5 August 2026, with a special “Grand Final” episode slated for 26 August. The new season will consist of seven episodes followed by the concluding special, and the trailer released by the streamer highlights the decline of Macondo, the arrival of the railway and a banana company, and the marriage of Fernanda del Carpio to Aureliano Segundo.

The production was filmed entirely in Colombia and is directed by Laura Mora and Carlos Moreno. The cast includes Julián Román (the Buendía twins), María Adelaida Puerta (Amaranta), Ángela Cano (Petra Cotes), Carla Baratta (Fernanda del Carpio), Daniella Reyes (Remedios), Juanita Molina (Meme), Claudio Cataño (Coronel Aureliano Buendía) and Marleyda Soto (Úrsula Iguarán). Netflix presents the episode‑by‑episode structure as “cinematic” and promotes the series as one of its most ambitious Spanish‑language projects.
