Netflix releases trailer for Spanish mystery series ‘The Final Problem’

Netflix has released a trailer for ‘The Final Problem’ (El problema final), a four-episode Spanish limited series directed by Félix Viscarret. Based on the novel by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, the period mystery is set in the spring of 1959 on a small island near Mallorca.

The plot follows thirteen individuals stranded at an isolated hotel following a storm. When an English tourist, Elisa Mander, is found dead, what initially appears to be a suicide is revealed to be a murder. The investigation is led by Basil, a retired actor who once famously portrayed Sherlock Holmes on screen, who must navigate a web of suspects among the hotel guests and staff.

The ensemble cast includes Jose Coronado, Maribel Verdú, María Valverde, and Martiño Rivas. The series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in late September 2026.
