Netflix sets release date for Pérez-Reverte adaptation ‘El problema final’

Netflix has announced that ‘El problema final’, a miniseries adapted from Arturo Pérez-Reverte’s 2023 novel, will premiere on September 25. The production is a period mystery thriller set in the spring of 1959.

The plot follows thirteen guests isolated by a storm at a hotel on a Mediterranean islet near Mallorca. The mystery begins when an English tourist, Elisa Mander, is found dead under suspicious circumstances. The investigation is led by Benjamin Basil, played by José Coronado, a retired actor who once portrayed Sherlock Holmes.

The cast also includes Maribel Verdú, who plays Raquel Ausländer, the hotel manager, alongside María Valverde and Martiño Rivas. Parts of the production were filmed in Lloret de Mar, where various locations were used to represent a Mediterranean island from the late 1950s.
