Netflix to adapt cult French film ‘La vie est un long fleuve tranquille’ into series
Netflix has announced a six-episode series adaptation of the cult 1988 French film ‘La vie est un long fleuve tranquille’, directed by Clovis Cornillac. The original film, directed by Étienne Chatiliez, was a major success that won four César Awards and provided a satirical look at two opposing families who discover their children were swapped at birth.
The new series features a cast including Doria Tillier and Xavier Lacaille as the Le Quesnoy family, representing wealthy Catholic archetypes, and Ludivine Sagnier and Alban Ivanov as the Groseille family, described as ‘prolos gauchos’.
According to Netflix, the series will follow a slightly modified plot where the two families, unable to reach an agreement following the discovery of the switch, are legally mandated to undergo a four-month trial period of shared custody. Both families will then fight to secure permanent custody of the two teenagers, Côme and Jordy. A release date has not yet been announced.
