Netflix to produce miniseries on Daniel Sancho case

Netflix is developing a fictional miniseries based on the high-profile criminal case of Daniel Sancho, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in Thailand for the murder of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta in August 2023.

Spanish actor Martiño Rivas has been cast as the lead, portraying Sancho. Early images released by the platform show Rivas undergoing a physical transformation to resemble the chef during his police reconstruction in Thailand. The production is being handled by Bambú Producciones, the company behind ‘El caso Asunta’.

The series is expected to be filmed in both Spain and Thailand. While an official title and release date have not yet been announced, the project follows significant legal developments, including a request by Sancho's defense to the Thai Supreme Court to review his life sentence.
