Netflix production of Daniel Sancho case

Overview

Netflix and Bambú Producciones are developing a scripted miniseries based on the criminal case of Daniel Sancho, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in Thailand for the murder of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta.

Spanish actor Martiño Rivas has been cast to portray Sancho. The production is expected to film in both Spain and Thailand. While the project follows legal efforts by Sancho’s defense to review his sentence, the production has faced controversy regarding family involvement. Reports indicate that while the family of Edwin Arrieta is reportedly aware of and participating in the project, members of the Sancho family expressed surprise at learning about the series through media reports, claiming they were not consulted or given approval.
