Netflix to release Italian military academy drama ‘Minerva – La Scuola’

Netflix is set to release ‘Minerva – La Scuola’ (Académie Minerva), an eight-episode Italian teen drama, on September 22. The series blends romance, mystery, and crime elements within the strict environment of a military academy.

Set against the historical backdrop of the Reggia di Portici and the underground areas of Villa Campolieto, the plot follows a student named Salvo who enters the academy to investigate the disappearance of his best friend. The narrative explores themes of personal growth, ethics, and student cooperation rather than focusing solely on military discipline.

Directed by Ivan Silvestrini and written by a team led by Ivano Fachin, the production features actors such as Massimiliano Gallo, Cristina Capotondi, and Irene Maiorino. The series previously gained attention following a preview at the Giffoni Film Festival.
