Netflix to remove Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy in September 2026
Netflix will remove Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit’ film trilogy from its streaming platform at the end of August 2026. The three fantasy films, which include ‘An Unexpected Journey’ (2012), ‘The Desolation of Smaug’ (2013), and ‘The Battle of the Five Armies’ (2014), will no longer be available to subscribers after August 31, 2026.
The current Netflix offering consists of the standard theatrical versions of the films. Viewers interested in the extended editions will need to access them through other providers via rental, purchase, or physical media such as DVD, Blu-ray, or 4K-Blu-ray. The film series, which had a combined production cost of approximately 605 million euros, earned seven Academy Award nominations.
