Netherlands charity collection weeks support muscle disease and cancer research

The Prinses Beatrix Spierfonds will hold its annual collection week from 6 to 12 September 2026, inviting volunteers across the Netherlands to raise money for muscle‑disease research. The fund notes that one in nine Dutch people will encounter a muscle disease in their lifetime and highlights that the cause of about 80 % of these conditions is now known, opening avenues for new treatments.

In the week of 30 August to 5 September 2026, the Dutch Cancer Fund (KWF) runs a parallel collection drive in the municipality of Berkelland. Organisers use modern tools such as personal QR‑codes, WhatsApp links and online donation pages to make giving easier. Volunteers, coordinated by Jaime Lebbink, collect donations door‑to‑door and via digital channels to support cancer research, noting that one in two Dutch citizens will be diagnosed with cancer during their lives.
