Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman resigns after World Cup elimination

The Netherlands were knocked out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the round of 16 after a penalty‑shootout defeat to Morocco. Following the loss, head coach Ronald Koeman (referred to as Ronald Kuman in the reports) announced he will submit his resignation within the next few days. The news was first reported by transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano. Koeman, who has faced criticism for a defensive line‑up against Morocco, said he will take time to reflect before finalising his decision. He previously led the Dutch side from 2018, guiding them to the Euro 2024 semi‑finals, but his tenure has been marked by mixed results.
