Netherlands Defence Conducts Chinook Helicopter Exercises Over Berkelland and Enschede
The Royal Netherlands Air Force carried out low‑level flight training with large Chinook transport helicopters over the municipality of Berkelland in the Achterhoek region. The exercises, part of regular operational training, involve flying through designated corridors and using nearby Twente Airport.
On a separate occasion a Chinook landed in Enschede’s Van Heekpark for an urban‑area operation drill, demonstrating rapid loading, unloading and take‑off within ten minutes. Residents observed the 30‑metre‑long helicopter, and the event was coordinated by the Royal Netherlands Air Force. Residents can monitor flights via ADS‑B Exchange and report noise concerns through the air force’s online form.
