Netherlands faces widespread travel disruptions as road works and airport crowds surge this summer

The Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure has scheduled extensive maintenance on several highways and rail lines during July and August. Closures affect the A50 between Arnhem and Apeldoorn, sections of the A1 and A30 near Barneveld and Apeldoorn, and multiple segments of the N325. Night-time work on the railway between Nijmegen and Venlo, as well as between Arnhem and Nijmegen, forces bus replacements and adds 30 to 60 minutes to journeys.

At the same time, Eindhoven Airport is packed with holiday‑making passengers from Brabant and surrounding provinces. Families and friends are departing for Mediterranean destinations such as Ibiza, Sofia, Mallorca, Barcelona and Lloret de Mar, marking the start of the summer vacation rush.
