Netherlands hosts bee and honey markets in Uddel and Rotterdam

On Saturday 4 July, the beekeepers’ association De Vierkante Korf organized its 43rd annual Bee and Honey Market in Uddel. The free event ran from 09:00 to 15:00 at the village hall Het Blanke Schot, featuring around sixty stalls offering honey, bee‑related products and traditional crafts, as well as educational displays on bee colonies, pollination and the economic importance of bees. Activities for children included a treasure hunt, a jump‑house and a large sjoelbak.

A week later, on Saturday 11 July 2026, the Ambrosiusgilde in Rotterdam‑Zevenhuizen will open its National Open Beekeeper Day to the public. Visitors can tour an educational bee stand set in a nature area along the Rotte, explore a flowering garden, watch honeybees and bumblebees in observation boxes, and take part in workshops such as building bee hotels. The day also offers honey, mead and other bee products for sale, and the option to adopt a bee colony for €75.

Both events aim to raise awareness of the vital role of bees in pollination, highlight threats such as the varroa mite and invasive hornets, and promote sustainable beekeeping practices.
