Netherlands implements new fireworks ban and safety regulations

New national regulations in the Netherlands regarding fireworks are being implemented to ensure a safer New Year transition. Under the new rules, consumers are prohibited from setting off most fireworks, with only category F1 items, such as sparklers, remaining permitted.

In the province of Limburg, several locations will host free and anonymous collection points throughout September to allow residents to safely dispose of existing fireworks. Scheduled collection dates include September 3 in Venlo, September 5 in Maastricht, and September 17 in Roermond.

In the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel, local authorities are preparing for the impact of the Safe Year Transition Act. The municipality is organizing an information session on September 16 for local foundations and associations to explain the requirements for organizing permitted fireworks events and the necessary safety protocols. Rules regarding carbide shooting remain unchanged.
