Netherlands motorcycle sales reach record high in first nine months
New motorcycle sales in the Netherlands have reached a record high during the first nine months of the year. According to industry organizations BOVAG, RAI Vereniging, and RDC, 20,035 new motorcycles were registered, marking an increase of over 15 percent compared to the 17,375 units sold during the same period last year.
This growth has already surpassed the total sales recorded for the entirety of 2025 and broken the previous annual record of 19,819 set in 2024. In the third quarter alone, 6,003 new motorcycles were registered, a nearly 16 percent increase year-over-year. Martijn van Eikenhorst of RAI Vereniging noted that motorcycles are increasingly used for daily commuting due to their smaller footprint and contribution to traffic flow.
In the used motorcycle market, sales reached 121,954 units in the first nine months, a figure nearly identical to the previous year. The BMW R1300 GS emerged as the most popular new model with 827 registrations and a 4.1 percent market share, followed by the Kawasaki Z 900, Kawasaki Z 650, and Yamaha Tracer 900.
