Netherlands reports slight rise in business investments and tourism
Recent data from Statistics Netherlands (CBS) indicates mixed economic signals for the country. In the tourism sector, July 2026 saw an increase in activity compared to July 2025, with the number of guests rising from 5.27 million to 5.70 million and overnight stays increasing from 17.18 million to 18.45 million.
However, long-term trends suggest a more complex picture. While July 2026 showed growth over the previous year, the number of overnight stays remains below the 2023 peak of 19.06 million. Analysts note that the growth may be influenced by the relatively weak performance of July 2025.
In the broader business sector, corporate investments in the Netherlands saw a slight increase of 0.1 percent in July compared to the same month last year. This follows a 2.8 percent increase in June. Investment spending was particularly concentrated in machinery and defense equipment, while spending on aircraft, buildings, infrastructure, and passenger cars declined.
