Netherlands road closures and traffic measures impact Merwedebrug on A27 and Bergse Ravelstraat
The Merwedebrug on the A27 will be fully closed to all traffic for five nights between 7 August and 16 August 2026 to allow work on the bridge flap. The closures affect trucks, cars, motorcycles and cyclists, with detours between Breda and Utrecht and an expected extra travel time of 30–60 minutes, especially in evenings and early mornings.
In Bergs Zoom, the municipal council rejected a request to designate the narrow section of the Ravelstraat as a 30 km/h zone despite safety concerns raised by residents and the local advocacy group PRO. The road will retain its 50 km/h limit, but markings will be renewed and improved.
Both actions are part of ongoing traffic management and infrastructure maintenance efforts by Dutch authorities, aiming to improve safety and reduce congestion on key routes.
