Netherlands imposes road closures on A2 and N200 for maintenance and temporary bus lane
Rijkswaterstaat will close the A2 motorway between Deil and Everdingen for two nights, from 21:00 on 12 June to 07:00 on 14 June 2026, and operate with only two lanes during the daytime. All on‑ and off‑ramps at the Deil junction will be closed, and drivers are advised to expect detours and up to 45 minutes of extra travel time. The work involves replacing sections of asphalt and cleaning the carriageway.
The N200 (Zeeweg) between Haarlem and Bloemendaal will be partially closed on 9‑10 June and again on 16‑17 June 2026 to create a temporary bus lane for the free Strandbus trial. During each closure only one lane will remain for motor traffic while the other lane is dedicated to the bus service, with a 60 km/h speed limit. Traffic will be diverted via the N201; pedestrians, cyclists and local businesses will retain access.
Both projects aim to improve road safety and reduce congestion, the latter by testing whether a dedicated beach‑bus service can lessen car traffic to the coastal resorts during the summer season.
