Netherlands roadworks to cause major traffic disruptions
Major roadworks in the Netherlands are set to cause significant traffic disruptions in both Limburg and Gelderland.
In Limburg, the Urmonderbaan (N294) will face multiple closures between October 14 and November 2 due to the demolition and reconstruction of a central viaduct on the A2 motorway. The project involves several phases, including full closures between Sittard and Urmond and partial restrictions that will limit motorized traffic and affect access to the A2 towards Maastricht. Additionally, the Urmond exit (48c) towards Eindhoven will be closed from October 23 to October 26 for the removal of a junction.
In Gelderland, the N325 will be completely closed for one month between Beek and Nijmegen to improve a dangerous intersection. This closure is expected to affect approximately 20,000 motorists daily. To mitigate congestion on diversion routes, the province is encouraging commuters to work from home, avoid peak hours, or use temporary parking lots to switch to free bus services or rental bicycles. Emergency services, public transport, and cyclists will maintain access during the works.
