Netherlands Rural Attractions Open to Public in Midwolda and Dalmsholte

The historic Hermans Dijkstra farm in Midwolda, dating back to 1858 and representative of the region’s 18th‑century grain‑farmer prosperity, opened its doors to visitors. Volunteers guided guests through the authentically furnished rooms, displaying period décor, a landscaped English garden, and a large grain store. The site is free to the public on July 30 and August 1 between 10:00 and 16:00.

In the neighbouring village of Dalmsholte, the charity Stichting ’t Olde Manegepeerd held a “Kijk & Doe‑dag” on July 26. The organization cares for retired thoroughbred horses rescued from throughout the country. During the open day, families were invited to meet the animals, help with feeding and grooming, and purchase second‑hand riding‑gear, snacks and other items to raise funds for feed, veterinary care and upkeep.
