Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman resigns, search for new boss begins

In his statement he accepted full responsibility for the loss and cited personal reasons, including his wife’s health, for stepping down.

The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) has opened a search for a successor. Media reports list former Liverpool manager Arne Slot – who briefly coached Liverpool and later led the Dutch side to a Premier League title – as a leading candidate, alongside former PSV and Bundesliga coach Peter Bosz and former international Michael Reiziger. The debate also reflects a broader discussion about the future direction of Oranje.

In the wake of Koeman’s exit, several members of his staff are also leaving. Assistant coaches Wim Jonk and Erwin Koeman have been linked to new opportunities, and the federation is expected to appoint a new backroom team once a head coach is chosen.
