Netherlands tourism spending reaches 117.6 billion euros in 2025

Tourism spending in the Netherlands reached 117.6 billion euros in 2025, according to Statistics Netherlands. This represents an increase of 5.6 billion euros compared to 2024, with a real growth rate of 3.1 percent. Foreign tourists accounted for more than half of this increase, spending 41.7 billion euros, while Dutch tourists spent 70 billion euros.

The tourism sector's value added exceeded 42.3 billion euros, growing by 3.9 percent in real terms and surpassing pre-pandemic levels by more than 5 percent. The sector currently accounts for 4 percent of the total economy and employs approximately 458,000 people.

Simultaneously, several European destinations are implementing measures to manage tourism or increase revenue. In Venice, officials are considering raising the entry fee for day tourists from 10 euros to 30 euros to better regulate mass tourism. Amsterdam, which already maintains a high tourist tax of 12.5 percent on overnight stays, continues to see rising visitor numbers, with 9.5 million visitors recorded last year.
