Netherlands waste services adjust hours due to heatwave
Various municipalities and waste management services across the Netherlands are adjusting their operating hours in response to an expected heatwave.
In The Hague, garbage collection will begin earlier than usual on August 12 and 13 to ensure workers complete their tasks before peak temperatures. Residents are advised to place containers and waste on the street by 07:00. Additionally, waste disposal stations in Binckhorst, Centrum, and Loosduinen will operate from 07:00 to 14:00 on Wednesday.
In Westmaas and Middelharnis, the RAD recycling centers will limit their hours to 08:00–12:00 on August 13 and 14. Similarly, the Kaatsheuvel recycling center (Grondstoffencentrum) will close at 13:00 on several days this week and will remain closed entirely on Thursday, August 13.
The KNMI predicts temperatures could reach 35 degrees Celsius on Friday, prompting these precautionary measures for both employees and visitors.
