Netherlands heatwave municipal service adjustments

Overview

Municipalities across the Netherlands are implementing operational adjustments in response to an expected heatwave, with temperatures predicted to reach 35 degrees Celsius.

In various regions, waste management services are altering their schedules to protect workers and visitors. Beyond sanitation services, Groningen has implemented the ‘Tropical Weather Scenario’ (TWS), which allows hospitality venues to extend terrace hours into the early morning hours, depending on their location within the city.
